Rhode Island Vineyard Locations |
When most people think of winemaking, they usually think of California, France, Germany... but Rhode Island?
One of Rhode Island's most surprising roles is the one it plays in the quality wine industry emerging from the eastern seaboard. New England's climate, moderated by its close proximity to the ocean, provides the area with an ideal growing season for several varieties of wine-making grapes.
There are four wineries open to the public in Rhode Island: Sakonnet Vineyards and Winery in Little Compton; Diamond Hill Vineyards in Cumberland; Newport Vineyards & Winery in Middletown; and Greenvale Vineyards in Portsmouth.
If travelers have a thirst for something different, discover winemaking in Rhode Island. All four wineries offer tours and wine tastings, and most can accommodate special events including picnics, reunions and parties as well as incentive and corporate functions.
